Vision
LifeRisks envisions a youth community that is actively engaged in discussions concerning mental health and well-being. It aspires to empower the youth to deconstruct and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health problems to encourage help-seeking. In five years, LR aims to play a vital role in the establishment of the first Suicide Prevention Center in Pampanga, Philippines.
Mission
Bridging up-to-date and available science and statutes relevant to the mental health and well-being to the local community, especially the youth.
About Us
Today, the lives of the Filipino youth are at risk due to substance use and suicide. Recent reports show that more than 80 minors have been killed in either police operations or vigilante-style killings in the recent campaign against drugs. Addiction to substances has plagued the youth; affecting their families, their education, and ultimately, their lives. On the other hand, new researches suggest that suicide is a public health concern that takes 800,000 lives per year—one in every 40 seconds. The youth, who are most vulnerable to societal pressures, are often given little attention despite being at the forefront of these public issues.
In light of the current social context, Mr. Adrian Paul Liangco and Mr. Norman Mendoza, as individuals advocating for youth development and nation-building, decided to host a series of non-profit lectures entitled, “LifeRisks: Suicide and Substance use among Students” in various schools and universities in Pampanga.
